MO: coloni minacciano pastori palestinesi

Ieri pomeriggio, domenica 13 Febbraio, tre coloni israeliani dell'insediamento di Ma'on in Cisgiordania, hanno aggredito verbalmente e minacciato alcuni pastori palestinesi del vicino villaggio.
Uno dei pastori è stato colpito ad una gamba con un bastone.
Uno dei coloni ha minacciato con le seguenti parole un pastore:"so chi sei, dove abiti, e se ti vedo ancora qui vengo a casa tua e ti ammazzo". Stessa minaccia di morte è stata rivolta anche nei confronti della polizia israeliana, quando i pastori palestinesi hanno detto di chiamarla a loro tutela.
Alcuni volontari italiani, accorsi sul luogo, hanno cercato di dialogare con i coloni, ma sono stati accusati di essere dei bugiardi e di aiutare i palestinesi a sottrarre le terre che Dio ha consegnato a loro israeliti.
Il tutto è avvenuto su un terreno di proprietà palestinese e non soggetto a nessuna restrizione da parte delle autorità militari israeliane che, secondo gli accordi di Oslo, amministrano la zona.

Da giorni nell'area in questione a sud di Hebron, le South Hebron Hills, i coloni scacciano i pastori dai loro pascoli senza che le autorità israeliane ne tutelino il diritto a usufruire dei propri terreni. Due settimane fa due volontarie dell'Operazione Colomba - Corpo Civile di Pace della Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII - sono state minacciate di morte da parte di coloni dello stesso insediamento di Ma'on.
Nell'ottobre del 2004 un volontario italiano di Operazione Colomba è stato picchiato da coloni di Ma'on durante l'accompagnamento di alcuni bambini a scuola. Nel settembre 2004, in maniera analoga due volontari americani sono vennero ricoverati in ospedale perche picchiati da coloni di Ma'on.

Settlers Chase Palestinian Shepherds From Their Fields

Yesterday afternoon three settlers of Maon settlement in the West Bank verbally assaulted and threatened Palestinian shepherds who are the inhabitants of nearby villages. One of the shepherds stated that he was also hit by one of the settlers. A settler threatened one of the shepherds, saying, "I know who you are and where you live and if I see you here again I will come to your home and kill you." When the shepherds said that they wanted to call the Israeli police for intervention, the settlers said that they would also kill the police if they came.
Italian volunteers of Operation Dove, a project of an Italian Catholic Association, ran to the scene and tried to speak with the settlers but were accused both of being liars and of helping the Palestinians steal the land that God has given to the Jewish people. These events occurred on Palestinian property which is not under military restriction. According to the Oslo Agreements the Israeli government has full authority and responsibility for this area.
In the past few days, Palestinian shepherds have been chased and threatened by the settlers of Maon as they grazed sheep on their own property. These Palestinian shepherds have been subject to such violence, including beatings, shootings, and assaults, for many years without the intervention of the Israeli authorities. Consequently, the Palestinian inhabitants of this area have asked for an international presence to reduce the level of violence in the area.
Two weeks ago, two volunteers from Operation Dove, including an American, were also given a death threat by a settler from Maon settlement as they accompanied shepherds in their fields. In October 2004, an Italian volunteer of Operation Dove was beaten by settlers of Maon while he accompanied children as they walked to school. In September 2004, two American volunteers of the Christian Peacemaker Teams were beaten and hospitalized by settlers from Maon as they accompanied children who were walking to school.
